Hi Eddie – thanks for the reminder! We will put out lots of food and water for the birds too. Lovely blog again as usual – thank you for sharing. Robin.
Thank you for this, especially the photos, they are great! I’ve put more food on my bird table as well because of the cold weather. I get lots of blue tits in my garden, when I was your age they were much rarer, I love to see them. I also have a little wren that hops in and out of my plant pots, makes me smile.

Thanks for sharing this, Eddie. I have enjoyed your Dad’s writing for years and it’s great that there are now two Barnses writing about the natural world around them. Filled up all my feeders today so hopefully my local birds will all come along to be counted next weekend!
Hi Eddie, I haven’t thought about the windfalls feeding the birds but of course it makes sense. We are keeping our bird feeders topped up and trying to keep the squirrels from eating the bird food. Thanks for the lovely pictures. Angela
We have lots of birds coming into our garden to feed. I will put out lots of food and some apples for the blackbirds. I’m going to take part in the RSPB bird watch next weekend.
Thank you Eddie, you showed me what a fieldfare looks like.
we live in Australia so i didn’t know about the Birdwatch day, and our birds have lots of food because its summer here.
i don’t think we have fieldfares here.
i know, because its been hot i will put out more water in our garden for the birds to drink.
thanks again for the information Eddie- keep it up.
Wes
I will fill up all the feeders round the garden and put out apples, grated cheese and some meal worms. Oh and I will shout at the squirrels. I hope you don’t mind that. Glenda
We store our spare apples in the shed and then they don’t get mushy. When it’s cold we throw out a few each day for the blackbirds and fieldfares. On our garden camera we can see that a fox comes in at night time and eats the apples too!

Nice one Eddie! Really enjoyed reading your blog & looking at the photographs – Looking forward to the next one.

I will be making sure that there is fresh water in both bird baths and refilling the bird feeders, I am hoping for a good turnout!
I hope it all worked out as you wished.
